Natural Greenish Hydrogrossular Oval Cut Cabochon
Hydrogrossular differs from the other garnets in that it is never transparent. It ranges from translucent to opaque. The most common color is a bluish green, but they are also found in pink, white, and gray.
Because of its coloring and translucency, hydrogrossular is often used as a jade substitute. Large pieces are available, which lend themselves to carving.
Grossular Garnet physical healing properties include aiding in recovery of illness or trauma by regenerating new cell growth and stimulating the blood. It also detoxifies and alleviates inflammations throughout the body and boosts the immune and respiratory system.
Pure crystals of garnet are still used as gemstones. The gemstone varieties occur in shades of green, red, yellow, and orange. In the US it is known as the birthstone for January.
