Central Asia, Turkmenistan or Iran, ca. 19th century CE. A striking, massive silver pendant, featuring a huge ovoid carnelian intaglio incised with Farsi script. The silver, which is 92% pure, features large, granulated decorations around its rim and lightly stamped motifs of realistic standing lions on its reverse. Three thick loops rise from the upper side, each studded with an inlaid turquoise seed bead. Size: 3.3" W x 2.95" H (8.4 cm x 7.5 cm); silver is 92%; total weight: 119.5 grams

Condition
The loops at the top are slightly bent and there are a few small dings and dents on the silver surface. The carnelian also has some small scratches. Overall, however, the pendant is in good condition with well preserved details.
