**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Tlatilco, D-4 type, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A graceful and finely-formed D-4 type "pretty lady" figure from this very early Pre-Columbian culture. The figure stands atop elongated legs with nubbin points, and has wide hips, a slightly distended abdomen below rounded shoulders and hanging arms, and a thick neck adorned with a simple necklace. Her well-proportioned head is replete with recessed almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, slightly parted lips, and miniscule ears, all beneath a puffy forehead and an incised coiffure with plaits behind her head. Covered in a pale orange slip, this is a wonderful example from ancient Mexico! Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 2.25" W x 5.375" H (5.7 cm x 13.7 cm); 5.875" H (14.9 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Head reattached at neck line with light adhesive residue along break lines, though repairs are unobtrusive. Surface wear and minor abrasions commensurate with age, minor nicks to tips of arms and legs and back of necklace, with fading to some finer features, and light roughness across most surfaces. Light earthen deposits throughout. Old inventory number written in black ink on back of one leg.
