A George III mahogany bureau bookcase late 18th century The fall front reversing to a leather lined writing surface and enclosing a configuration of a door, drawers and pigeonholes. height 84 1/2in (215cm); width 42 1/4in (107.5cm); depth 22in (56cm) Provenance: Property from a curated Montecito Residence.
Condition
Likely estate made. With a warm chestnut color to timber. General marks, nicks, scratches, stains, scars, cracking, rubbing and wear commensurate with age and use. Most glazed panels to doors of upper section original. Some replacements. Leather writing surface replaced. Central door panel repurposed from a drawer front. Holes to reverse. Repairs to hinges of fall front with patches to surrounding timber. Hardware replaced. Scattered areas of patched repair and overpainted restoration. One key opens interior fall front door only.
