A Chinese Export gilt metal mounted black and gilt lacquer bureau cabinet second quarter 18th century The upper section with a pair of doors opening to a configuration of drawers, pigeon holes and shelves above a fall front reversing to a writing surface and enclosing a well and a configuration of a door, drawers and pigeon holes. height 100in (254cm); width 42 1/2in (108cm); depth 24 1/2in (62cm) Provenance: With Antonios Antiques, San Francisco. Property from the Estate of June Ebensteiner, West Lake Village, California.
Condition
In an overall good restored condition. The gilt metal mounts and hardware possibly later. The lacquer decoration with overall areas of restoration and refreshing, some craquelure, old restoration and small losses visible. The gilding all refreshed. Movement to carcass visible on sides of lower and upper case. Typical dings, dents and surface scratches. Diagonal scrape to upper portion of left side of case. Feet replaced. Finials removable. No keys.
