Description
Etruscan early 4th cent. B.C..Clay. H. 10.5 cm. W. 11 cmThe fragment represents a bearded man in three-quarter profile to right. The hair of his forehead and temples frames his face in fine, soft curls. The beard and moustache are rendered in separate strands. The eyelids are modelled in relief and the painted lashes are still clearly visible. Traces of the white ground preserved; eyelashes rendered in black paint (a few traces preserved).Formerly European private coll. Thereafter Gorny & Mosch, Auction sale 15.12.2015, lot 404a.
