Original 1765 issue of The Gentleman's Magazine, 50 pages, Complete, disbound, a few loose forward pages, measures about 5.25" x 8.5" with substantial contemporary news of over one full page plus, regarding the American Colonies and the Stamp Act, a major spark to the Revolutionary War with its clarion call of no taxation without representation. Other contents include: Proceedings of the Americans; Essays on Husbandry, with a fine engraving; Shakespeare; Samuel Johnson; Caution against Hops!; View of Windsor Palace and Park. Form Proceedings in America: "The late Act of the British Parliament, for taxing the colonies in America, has produced a spirit of opposition, in that remote part of the world, that was not perhaps foreseen by the advisors of that measure...".
