Three Men's 19th Century Waistcoats/Vests, 1840-1860

This lot includes three men's waistcoats; two cotton prints and one embroidered silk.

THE FIRST
Purple silk satin with purple, orange, and green floral embroidery, shawl collar, and front button closure.

Condition: THE FIRST The overall condition is good with the following: Split/Separated Seams: The center back seam and right side seam are split at the hemline. Fading/Color Change: There is a general discoloration overall but most noticeable under the arms in the lining. Soiling/Spots: Soiling is present under each arm in the satin. Repairs/Alterations: The top left cinch is pinned in place. THE SECOND The overall condition is very good structurally with the following: Losses: Bottom button is missing. Fading/Color Change: There is some overall yellowing due to age. Soiling/Spots: There are spots throughout but most noticeable in the back and front left bottom hem near side seam. There is some light soiling along the neckline. THE THIRD The overall condition is good structurally with the following: Losses: The front button closures are threadbare but still attached. Fading/Color Change: There is heavy fading along the shoulders, armholes, and hemline. Soiling/Spots: The back and lining are heavily soiled but intact. Everything is sold 'As Is’. The stated overall condition of the lot is based on the assumption that the wear is consistent with age and use.
