Monumental pair of George III Chinese Chippendale style giltwood mirrors, late 19th/early 20th century, in the manner of Matthias Lock based on a design by Thomas Chippendale, ornately carved with Chinoiserie elements including bell-hung pagoda crests, rocaille c-scrolls, and Fenghuang ho ho birds on each side of oval frame. 68" H x 40" W x 6.5" D. Wear consistent with age including some minor losses and old repairs. Provenance: From the estate of American film producer Martin Bregman (Scarface, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon). Removed from his Park Avenue apartment decorated by Sister Parrish and Albert Hadley.
