The Works of William Shakespeare, bound four volume set, edited, with a revision of the text by both Charles and Mary Cowden Clarke, in full calf binding with gilt detailing to the spines, with a portrait frontispiece of Shakespeare to the first volume and illegible inscription in ink dated "1874," London: Bickers and Son; J Bumpus; J. Ramage & Co.; Simpkin, Marshall, & Co.; W. H. Smith & Son; Henry Sotheran & Co., 1874. Each approx: 8.75" H x 5.75" W. Shelf wear throughout including scuffs to leather, toning of paper. Provenance: From the estate of American film producer Martin Bregman (Scarface, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon). Removed from his Park Avenue apartment decorated by Sister Parish and Albert Hadley.
