Item Details
Description
Late 18th century, mixed woods. Continuous arm chair with probably original black paint and old added yellow trim. 1795. Repaired seat, wear. 17" seat, 37.5"h. See Goyne-Evans, pp. 199-200 for signed chair inthe Brooklyn Museum.
Condition
Paint is probably a very old repaint with enough dust and dirt in cracks and spaces to make it difficult to see anything inside. It has good crazed surface, wear in appropriate places. A few pinpoint spots of red paint here and there. Horizontal age splits across seat have added wooden braces on the underside with some loss at either end where arm supports go through seat.
