Medium: original lithograph. This impression on Arches wove paper is from the limited edition of 3000 printed in 1951 by Mourlot. Matisse executed this original lithograph to serve as the frontispiece for the Colette novel "La Vagabonde", published in Paris by Andre Sauret. The full sheet measures 8 1/2 x 6 1/4 inches (218 x 160 mm). Signed in the stone, not hand-signed.
Condition: there is a minor crease and a small spot of foxing near the left edge. Also, this was the frontispiece and there is a bit of offsetting of text from the opposing page.
