Abraham Lincoln magic lantern slide, picturing Lincoln the day he delivered his famous speech at Cooper Union on 27 February 1860, which many credit as convincing Republican party leaders to nominate him for President. Photo is also the first image taken of Lincoln by Mathew Brady, catalogued as O-17. Lincoln would later say of that day, including his photo session: ''Brady and the Cooper Institute made me President.'' Glass slide measures 4'' x 3.25'', including casing. Paper label on side reads ''Private Collection of George S. Paine''. Very good condition.
