BIOGRAPHY:
Heinrich Petersen-Angeln was a pupil of Eugen Ducker.Heinrich Petersen is primarily known as a marine painter and creator of atmospheric harbor views. He first found his motives at the Baltic Sea and from 1882 increasingly on the Dutch North Sea coast where harbor views from Vlissingen and Harlingen emerged. From 1882 he lived at the artist colony Ekensund, where each year local and foreign artists met to engage in plein air painting. More study tours took him to Belgium, France, Italy and Norway, until well into the 1890s. Petersen was a highly sought after artist who showed his paintings at major art exhibitions throughout Germany.
