Several Strands of Astronaut Neil Armstrong’s Hair, Collected By His Barber
Approximately five strands of hair belonging to First Man on the Moon Neil Armstrong, measuring between 0.25” to 1.5” in length. The hair is secured to a larger sheet of paper within a small card having a plastic overlay. The hair strands are light blonde or grey in color, taken from Armstrong at the age of 75. Very fine. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. John Reznikoff Hair Collection is certified as the Largest Hair Collection in Guinness Book of World Records 2014.
Armstrong’s hair was collected over time by his barber, Marx Sizemore, who cut Armstrong’s hair about once a month since October 1999. Accompanying the hair strands is a letter from Armstrong’s representing law firm, addressed to Mr. Sizemore, regarding the hair collected. There appears to have been a controversy over the sale of the astronaut’s hair, as it was deemed a “violation of his personal rights under [Ohio Revised Code Chapter 2741]…” Armstrong requested that any money acquired from the sale of his hair would be donated to charity.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
