**First Time At Auction**
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. An attractive oinochoe comprised of free-blown, translucent, pale green glass with a concave base and large, rough pontil scar. A spherical body gently tapers to a narrow neck, a flared and rolled rim, and a wide trail handle applied to the upper body and rim. The neck boasts two thick and one very thin trails of applied, similarly-hued glass, and faint silvery iridescence coats the exterior. Size: 2.25" W x 3.55" H (5.7 cm x 9 cm).
Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s

Condition
Loss to upper area of thumb rest, minor nicks and abrasions to base, body, handle, and rim, with light encrustations, and some weathering film. A rough pontil scar indicates the vessel was free-blown. Light earthen deposits and faint silver iridescence throughout. Light waxy residue on base.
