Description
Hummel, Supreme Protection. This piece is glazed, but not painted. Modeled by Gerhard Skrobek in 1963. Originally called Blessed Madonna with Child. First put on the marked in 1984 and limited to that year's production. Signed "Robert L Miller", 1 Dec 1983. This piece does not have the 75th anniversary inscription on the bottom. Purchased 3rd Miller auction in Dayton, Ohio. Hummel measures approx. 9 1/4" tall, TMK-5, Hum 364. No cracks, crazing or repairs. Tiny chip on bottom edge of base. No box. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
