Group of Six Carved Wooden African Figures, 20th c., consisting of an antelope figure with hair, Chiwara, Mali; a carved wood and metal guardian figure, Nbulu-Ngulu, Gabon; a female ancestor figure; a male ancestor figure, Congo, with a staff; a metal clad female figure, with bead and cowrie shell decoration; and a double sided female figure with bead, yarn, and cowrie shell decoration, Double Sided- H.- 23 1/2 in., W.- 5 in., D.- 5 1/2 in. (6 Pcs.) Provenance: from the Estate of John C. McNeese, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. 20th c. Normal wear and tear scuffs and scratches throughout. Tallest with cowries shells and fabric has loss to edge of base and tips of breasts. Old woodworm damage. Excellent examples.
