Description
Group of Three Carved Wood African Masks, 20th c., consisting of a tall narrow example with pointillist and lizard decoration; a round mask , Luba, Congo with a lizard surmount and painted incised linear decoration; and a carved and painted totemic figure, West Africa, Totemic- H.- 42 in., W.- 7 1/2 in., D.- 5 in. (3 Pcs.) Provenance: from the Estate of John C. McNeese, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. 20th c. Large chip out of top back of long mask. Round mask has paint loss to incisions. Totemic mask has had figure at top very visibly broken off and re-glued. Wear to painted surfaces.
