Description
St.Petersburg Collection (British). Designed by Theo Faberge (1922-2007). Limited Edition desk clock sculpture, "The Tsar's Village Treasure," constructed from a solid piece of amber. Inspired by the Amber Room, a chamber decorated in amber panels backed with gold leaf and mirrors, constructed in the 18th Century and located in the Imperial Catherine Palace near Saint Petersburg, Russia. Clock face embellished with Theo Faberge signature and surrounded by armorial decorations derived from a panel in the Amber Room. To reverse, a replica Prussian coat of arms also originally created in Baltic amber. To top, Tsar Nicholas II (1868-1918) in officers’ uniform, on horseback, faithfully modeled in gold and silver. Oval base has ribbed ends and is mounted with two Russian Imperial Eagles and a miniature Romanov Dynasty crown. Numbered to top NO. 17 (from a worldwide edition of 30). Marks for 925 sterling silver and additional goldsmith marks to top. Clock being sold untested, may require battery and or service. Good condition with normal wear. Measures 7 3/4 in. x 7 1/4 in. x 3 1/4 in.
