Description
American or English, late 19th century. Manner of J.L. Mott Iron Works, large Victorian era cast iron garden iron having scrolled handles, body decorated with cranes in a marshy landscape, spreading socle base, and square base. Unmarked.Approx. h. 46", w. 28.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Jack Warner / The Warner Foundation, Tuscaloosa, AL.
Condition
Cracks to both arms with possible previous repairs obscured under paint layers; one arm is missing the upper bolt that secures it to the body and the second handle's bolt is partially separated from the body; casting imperfections; oxidation and wear to finish; body and base are not secured and should be professionally reattached.
