BIOGRAPHY:
A resident of Chicago, the artist painted the Chicago and Brown County area. He was President of the Chicago Palette and Chisel Club from 1962-64.
Inspired by nature and "out of the ordinary" scenes, Albert Alfredson takes a realistic approach which is seen in all of his paintings whether it be in pastel, pan and ink, or in oil. He chooses to sketch on site which enables him to capture the nostalgia of rural areas or sea-coast subjects.
Born in Chicago, Albert Alfredson studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts; The Art Institute of Chicago; the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts; and private studio instruction with Wellington J. Reynolds in portraiture.
He is a member of the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts where he served several years as President of the Academy, and the Municipal Art League of Chicago where he presently serves as Artist Director of the League. He has been a long-time member of the Brown County Art Guild Gallery of Nashville,
Indiana; the Brownsville Texas Art League; the American Artists Professional League; the Oak Park Art League; and is associated with many other local art groups in the Illinois area.
Well respected within these various art groups, Albert Alfredson has been a popular painting demonstrator in the Chicago, Indiana and Texas areas. He has served on juries of selection and awards throughout these areas for many years. His numerous awards in various competitions include a Diamond
Medal; a Gold Medal; a Gold Star Award; two Silver Medals; and many ribbons and monetary award.
"I work very much with the palette knife and use the brushes for blending and correcting the applications I make with the knife," Alfredson has stated. He uses a realistic approach in painting, usually taking his inspiration from nature.
