Description
Antique tin and wood foot warmer box with wooden handle. This tin box would have been filled with coals or embers and placed near the feet to keep them warm. They were especially popular for long Sunday church services in winter in America or for use in carriages. They fell out of fashion in the mid to late nineteenth century when heat and hot water bottles came into use. There is further information on a handwritten note card.
The dimensions are 5.5in x 9.5in x 6.25in. It is in good/fair condition with some missing pieces, rust throughout the metal and chipped/worn wood. Please call or email for a detailed condition report.
