Two Chinese Kesi Dragon Panels. The first worked in couched gilt and polychrome threads on an indigo-blue ground and woven in mirror image with five-clawed dragons and bats amidst clouds and flames above cresting waves, all within a brown-ground dense trefoil border; the second embroidered on a dark blue ground with a band of sinuous beasts chasing fiery pearls above crashing waves, all between couched gilt borders. {Size of the first: 31 1/2 x 48 inches (80 x 121.9 cm)}.
