Description
Chinoiserie figural gilt bronze mantle clock, 19th century, probably French and cast in the style of the Imperial Chinese Guangzhou workshops, modeled with two figures attired in the Qianlong manner and perched on and near a tasseled cushion seat housing a patinated bronze clock face with Roman numerals and incised sunburst design, the base modeled as a tented pagoda-form pavilion with bell floral and geometric motifs around the draping pleated folds, raised on scrolling and foliate plinth base, unsigned, the reverse with "T" marks possibly for Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751–1843). 20.75” H x 16.75” W x 5.5” D. Provenance: Removed from a private residence at the Pierre Hotel.
