Label attached to the backing board, hand written in French, "Painting E. Buffet personally owned by Mle. Jeanne Lacroix," acquired from the Parisian estate c1980. Very rare; the only known, and perhaps unique, study for Metivet's famous lithographic poster "Eugenie Buffet/Tous les Soirs/Ambassadeurs." The French "chanteuse" Buffet (1866-1934) performed at Les Ambassadeurs in Paris. Metivet's poster shows the same composition as our example, with variations in the text. Image size: 18 5/8 x 12 in.
