Provenance: Manny Asadurian, Mannyland Ranch, Moorpark, California. Jean Dufy, brother of Raoul, worked mainly in gouache and watercolor. As he did not date his works after1930, our catalogue date is an approximate one. Born in Le Havre in 1888, the 7th of 11 children, Dufy moved to Paris after his military service. There he grew acquainted with Derain, Braque, Picasso, and Apollinaire, painting flowers, horses, and landscapes. Jean also worked with Raoul for the textile painting studio of the famous Bianchini-Ferier company, and decorated porcelain for Theodore Haviland in Limoges.
