ARTIST BIO (Cope2)

Born 1968 as Fernando Carlo, Jr. in New York City. Cope 2’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States and internationally. He is a self taught artist who is a celebrated legend contributing over 30 years to the graffiti street art culture. One of New York City’s most prolific graffiti artists, he began tagging his name in the South Bronx in 1978. He developed his style in the subways and streets of the Bronx creating graffiti productions throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s achieving international recognition for his distinctive style.

ARTIST BIO (Monica Alonso)

Film photographer and processor Monica Alonso aka Cheezybrainz, was born in 1989 to Cuban immigrants. A Miami native, Monica’s photography focuses on her culture and cuban heritage, often traveling to Cuba and capturing the scenery and people of the Island.

“The photos i take are all raw, unfiltered, unaltered. I mostly like to do street photography, urban decay, graffiti, people in a natural setting, natural portraits of people in a non studio setting. I believe the less you alter or edit a photograph, the more raw and authentic it is. I think a photo has more character when it is imperfect. I prefer a more pure method."

“In this digital era, i often find my self gravitating towards more of a traditional old school way of photography, using antique cameras that are fully manual with no auto settings (my main camera is a medium format Mamiya c330 ), developing my own film, and processing my own silver gelatin prints in my darkroom which is set up with all original equipment from the 1960's. The only modern technology I use during my start to finish process is the scanner I use to scan my negatives into my computer for online postings."
