A VICTORIAN PARCEL GILT AND ABALONE INLAID BLACK PAPIER MACHÉ TILT-TOP TABLE, THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY, the circular hinged top with scalloped molding trim centering a scene depicting a couple strolling before an old church painted on inlaid abalone and set amidst tall trees, enclosed by a gilt border of blossoming leafy stems and curling acanthus, raised on a shaped standard and conforming lobed base with similar parcel gilt decoration. Height: 27 3/4" Diameter: 20 1/2" Provenance: Private Collection, Galveston, Texas.
Condition
Good condition with expected marks, scratches, chips, craqueleur, small losses and surface buildup in areas throughout.
