Description
A MID-CENTURY MODERN PAINTED PLASTER HARLEQUIN LAMP, BY THE MARBRO CO.,1950s, modeled as a cocky smiling youth wearing his traditional cap, mask, and tight fitting buttoned attire with crossed arms and legs a stance on a square form base, fitted for electricity. Height: 30 1/2" Width: 10" Depth: 8 3/4" Note: This mid-century Harlequin cast plaster lamp is modeled after the original sculpture "Arlequin" by Charles René St. Marceaux (French 1845-1915). A similar bronze "Arlequin" sculpture by Alfred Pierre Richard (French 1844-1884) can be found in this sale as lot 529.
Condition
Good condition and repainted, chips on tips of hat, tip of slipper, base edges, repairs, restorations, and normal surface buildup throughout. Original wiring needs replacing.
