A GROUP OF TWO COMTOISE MORBIER GILT PRESSED BRASS WALL CLOCKS, SIGNED, LATE 19TH CENTURY, one centering a circular white enamel dial enclosing black Roman chapters and pierced brass hands over twin key escapements, signed "PERBOST / à Mareuil-s/-Belle," within a rectangular gilt pressed brass frame of theatrical "C" scrolls suspending drapery swags trimmed in tassels, amidst blossoming and wilting bloom leafy stems over similarly detailed trailing vines ending on flower bloom detailed festoons within corner floral sprays, stamped "CN" (Carl Neufeld) and "DEPOSE," (protected design), suspending a similarly detailed pendulum with matching stamps, verso a rectangular black painted pressed tin case with side hinged doors opening to a cut steel and brass eight day weight driven with string cord wound movement, includes two gold painted cast iron weights, height: 56 1/2", width: 13 1/2", depth: 6"; together with another Morbier clock by Jacquet of Moulins centering a circular white enamel dial with black Roman hour chapters and Arabic numerals for every other day of the month, enclosing reticulated brass hands and a blued steel spear/crescent moon day pointer, over twin key escapements and signed "JAQUET / à Moulins," within a silvered and gilt pressed brass frame with an arched scrolls crest hung with a silvered leafy fruit garland above beaded trellis flanked by similar fruit pendants, ending on curling "S" brackets centering a conforming beaded trellis panel over a fruiting stems and foliage detailed base, suspending a pendulum centering a pair of putto seated on acanthus scrolls above a nicely detailed disc of cooing doves amidst stylized clouds and a radiating background, enclosed by trailing floral berried vines on a rocaille border over a curling acanthine base, verso pressed tin case with hinged door sides opening to cut steel and brass clock mechanism with weight driven brass cable wound movement, includes one winding key and two cast iron weights, height: 58", width: 13 3/4", depth: 6".                   Provenance: Lifelong Collection of Clocks and Antiques, Navasota, Texas.
Condition
Good condition, the Jacquet dial has a tiny chip and some hairlines, the mechanisms are clean and restored, the pressed brass frames have expected bent areas, dents, small holes, some light surface abrasions and normal wear for clocks of this age, materials, and country of origin.
