Dimensions: 1-1/4" H x 5-1/2" W

Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Wang Bingrong mark famille jaune Quatre foil flori form porcelain carving lidded box. Stoutly potted Chinese porcelain unto a slightly flattened Quatre foil flori form, with Quatre foil flori wide cavetto, correspondence dome lid, raised from Quatre foil flori sides over a wide cavetto Inner flange circumscribed around the containers lip allows for a perfect fitment of the covering with gilt thick rings lines on the each rim. All reserved and carved by craftsman are rendered in famille jaune lemon-yellow underglaze base color which contrast against the deep blue fine color. The dome lid carved with folk on the various pursuit on the mountain village landscape, amidst mountain hills, flowers blooms, peace Lishui water, sampan boat and big pavilion below ruyi clouds. The exterior side carved with scrolling interlocking tendril and flowers blooms. Flying Fu-bat interspersed with scrolling tendril and Chinese calligraphy Shou on the center foot base rim. Many mountains in China are sacred, some to Daoist's, some to Buddhists and some to both. In folk religion each mountain has its own deity associated with it. The pictogram character for mountain sea represent an all encompassing phrase for the whole world shan Hai. Mountains represent the yang element in the landscape and as such connect to the governing yang element in China the Emperor. Mountain is one of the eight trigrams in Feng Shui and Yi Jing. Of these Taishan is considered the most important and stones from the mountain were often placed in towns across China as a lucky charm. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. Mark on under base, a four embossed script characters mark, Wang Bingrong mark.
