JEAN-BAPTISTE GAMICHON, FRENCH MAHOGANY & MARBLE TOP EMPIRE DRESSER, C. 1820, H 38", L 58", D 24":Four drawers with lion and ring handles, female bronze masks flanking drawers, paw feet, fully signed (incised Gamichon mark on all drawers - see last photo detail). Jean-Baptiste Gamichon (French d. 1832) born in Dijon, recorded working in Paris after 1799 on Rue de Cléry. In 1811 his name appeared on a list of cabinetmakers recommended to the Garde-Meuble Imperial.
Condition
Marble top as is, cracked, losses to veneer. H 38 1/4", L 57 3/4", D 24 1/2"
