Description:
89, [2] pp. With detachable registration leaf following p.8 present and not detached; the two detachable subscription leaves at rear present and not detached. 22.6x17.3 cm (9x6¾"), original printed wrappers. First Edition.
Gurdjieff's first published work, a rare first edition complete with the detachable forms, and in the original wrappers, very uncommon thus. The only copy to sell at auction since 1975, per American Book Prices Current (at PBA Galleries in 1995), did not have the detachable forms. G.I. Gurdjieff was a now-legendary Greek-Armenian mystic and spiritual teacher who founded a school for spiritual development called The Institute for the Harmonious Development of Man.
Condition
Minor wear to spine tips and lower edge of front wrappers; essentially a fine copy of a fragile book.
