Description
An outstanding example of a Soviet diving helmet in what is called the 3 bolt bolt pattern! This helmet was made at Factory 28 located in Leningrad in 1986 as indicated by the brass ID plate.
As shown in the photos, the helmet has a wonderful patina to the copper body and brass hardware. All the correct hardware is present, including the window frames, brails and wing nuts, exhaust, and air fitting. The copper body is in great condition with no notable significant dents or damage. There is some minor scratches and blemishes, likely from limited use. There is also some old tape remnants visible on the bonnet. The bonnet and breastplate fit together with ease. The large rubber neck ring gasket is present. Single air vent inside bonnet not present. The ID plate features a date of 1986.
The 3 bolt style helmet features a rarely seen helmet mounted dive light! The light and bracket mount to the bonnet. The light bracket attaches to a ring on the faceplate and another around the air fitting. A metal light connection hose on the back is present. The light features a Soviet ID plate. The light and bracket really add an exciting visual element to this helmet, which was undoubtedly used! This helmet is a wonderful example of Soviet era diving technology that was nearly impossible to acquire during the Cold War!
