BIOGRAPHY:
Rudy Rusche was born Rudolf Scheffel in 1921. Rudy died in the late 1970’s.Rudy took on the pseudonym of Rudy Rusche, which was a combination of his first and last names.Rusche was a native of Berlin, Germany where he studied at the Prussian Academy of Arts.Upon graduating from the Academy Rusche moved to Munich to live and work in the Bavarian area of Germany. Impressed by the treatment of light as accomplished by the Old Dutch School, Rusche developed his own technique of illumination by candlelight. This became the trademark of Rusche’s paintings. Rusche was very impressed with Buddhism as expressed in many of his paintings with the Buddha painted in the glow of candlelight. Rusche was represented by Arnot Gallery throughout his life as an artist and can be found in the permanent gallery collection.
