Pair of Japanese Imari baluster vases with covers, Edo period, circa 1700, each waisted ovoid body molded below the shoulder with two high-relief reserves featuring a figure and domestic fowl within a heart-shaped border, the remainder decorated in gilt, underglaze blue and shades of red enamel with chrysanthemum flowering in a garden below a shoulder brocade band with various flowering roundels on a blue ground scattered with stylized chrysanthemums, a floral-patterned ribbon at the short neck and flaring base, the high domical lid with a faceted knob finial and decorated en suite (one with a chip), the bases with a weighted gilt stepped ormolu base, 14.5''h (1.25''h)
