ROCKBRIDGE ALUM SPRINGS WOODEN SHIPPING CRATE, square-nail construction, each end stenciled "ROCKBRIDGE / ALUM WATER / ROCKBRIDGE / ALUM SPRINGS / ROCKBRIDGE CO. / VIRGINIA.", each side stenciled for Shafer's Natural Mineral Water Depot, Baltimore, Maryland. Together with two aqua bottles labeled for Rockbridge Alum Springs, Inc. Three pieces total. Crate second half 19th century, bottles late 19th/early 20th century. 10" H, 16 1/2" x 23 1/4", and 10 1/2" H.
Crated in good as-found condition with some staining and cracking, one bottle undamaged with heavy interior staining, other with a small loss and 1" annealing crack off mouth, both with losses to label.
