This lot consists of a framed oil painting on canvas, done in the neo-classicist style of Maurice Denis (French, 1870-1943). Image depicts a statuesque woman with raven hair and ivory skin, draped in long, billowing brown fabric. She stands like a regal tree against a background of forest. There's a hand-painted inscription in the lower left corner. This framed piece measures approximately 42.25" x 20.75".
Maurice Denis (French, 1870-1943) was a painter, writer, and decorative artist who developed a number of theories which contributed to modern abstract art. Denis founded the Ateliers d'Art Sacre (Workshops of Sacred Art) and was greatly influenced by Japanese culture.
