This lot consists of a watercolor illustration on paper, done in the Magical Realism style of Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita (Japanese-French, 1886-1968). Image depicts a cat in profile. A delicate and masterful study. Handwritten inscription at lower left. Unframed measurements approximately 8" x 11".

Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita (Japanese-French, 1886-1968) was a painter and printmaker. Foujita applied Japanese ink techniques to his works of Post-Impressionism, Magical Realism, and Expressionism. Foujita had strong ties to France, where he spent a great deal of his career. After Foujita's 1918 exposition in Paris, he became renowned for his images of women and cats.
