Description
This lot consists of a unframed fine art print on paper, rendered in the abstract figural style of Bernard Buffet (French, 1928-1999). Graphite inscriptions at bottom of composition read, "110/125. Bernard Buffet". This piece features the portrait of a heavyset man with large, icy eyes. The portrait, rich with color and line, is recognizably Expressionist. This handsome print would be a highlight to any collection of modern art. Overall measurements approximately 11.5" x 8.25".
Bernard Buffet (French, 1928-1999) was born in Paris, France, where he made a formal study of painting and, by 1946, had firmly established himself as an art-world fixture. His first retrospective exhibit was presented when Buffet was just 30 years old. In his lifetime, Buffet created some 8,000 paintings and countless fine art prints, which were a massive testament to the pure artistry that drove the man.
