This lot consists of an ink and watercolor illustration on paper, done in the expressive style of Vincent Van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890). Image depicts a floral arrangement lush with color and warmth. Full of sensitivity to detail. "Vincent" is handwritten within the image, at bottom of vase. This is an excellent example of the vivid, Post-Impressionist manner for which Van Gogh is so well respected. Overall paper measures approximately 11.5" x 7.5".

Earlier, handwritten inscriptions on paper read "1780" and "Casagno di Genova". Appear to be remnants from a previous incarnation of this fine, laid paper.

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a major Post-Impressionist painter. He was a Dutch artist whose work had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. His output includes portraits, self portraits, landscapes and still lifes of cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers. Van Gogh drew as a child but did not paint until his late twenties; he completed many of his best-known works during the last two years of his life. In just over a decade he produced more than 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints.
