Description
Native American, Pacific Northwest, southeastern Alaska, Tlingit people, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A fine adze comprised of a hand-carved wooden handle with a curved neck and a separately-carved head of an ovoid form attached via a small nail on a flat top. The iron blade has a sharpened edge meant for shaving and tilling and is secured to the head with a threaded screw and nut. Size: 2.6" W x 21.375" H (6.6 cm x 54.3 cm); 22.7" H (57.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Slight loosening to blade on head. Minor abrasions and nicks to handle, head, and iron blade, with a few stable fissures to handle and head, and slight bending to overall form of blade. Nice earthen deposits across handle and head, and nice patina on iron blade.
