Description
Military drum, bentwood with original grain paint decoration and original eagle decoration with 13 surrounding stars, shield and arrows in talons. A circular gold band with saw tooth style, sun burst decoration completes the composition. Inside the original label states "Drums of the Best Kind and All Sizes, Made and Sold by Stephen Emory of Rindge, (N.H.)" The maker reportedly in business 1835-45. On the bottom skin is written O. B. Thayer?, Meredith, N. H. Size: H: 19in x D: 17in Weight: 4lbs Condition: Paint decoration guaranteed from the period with minor losses, lines replaced, top skin replaced and has an irregular shaped hole about 2" L., top sits somewhat askew to bentwood frame. Leather stays missing from back side.
