Description
Ivory vanity set of hand mirror and hair brush from the steam yacht Aztec of 1902 owned by Albert Cameron Burrage, Boston attorney and copper baron. Hair brush is stamped with Tiffany & Co., Union Square, New York on the top inner edge. The tops of both pieces have the New York Yacht Club burgee and the owner's house burgee in cloisonne with the word Aztec engraved into the ivory. The condition of the mirror is very good and the bristles of the brush are intact. Aztec was designed by William Gardner and built by the Crescent Shipyard of Elizabethport, NJ. Volume 32 of the publication of The Rudder of 1916 wrote of the interior decorations and furnishings of Aztec to be "very elaborate" for beauty and rarity of woods used.
