Description
Two Sevres Porcelain Cups and Saucers. The first, a soft-paste porcelain gobelet litron and soucoupe, dated 1784, painted by LeGuay. The straight sided can and dramatic saucer with fond bleu ground and a deep, cisele gilt border of scrolling foliage. Each with finely-painted scene a la Turq. The second, possibly a marriage, dated for 1788 painted by Butout, with neoclassical cornucopia and rose garlands under medium band and pale blue ovulos, with extensive gilt scallops. Underglaze blue interlaced Ls, GG within, LG and l g in script to cup and saucer; interlaced Ls LL and 9. to cup and saucer; however the cup is blue and the saucer puce. SËvres, France. 1784 and 1788. 3" H., the cup; the saucer 6" Diameter. 2 3/8 high the cup, _x000B_4 7/8" the saucer. Property from the Estate of Arthur Thomson, San Francisco, CA. Professionally restored 1" shallow chip to cup, 3" section of saucer reglued and overpainted, now visible only to the underside. Ver light surface scratching to center schene. Noticeable gilding wear to rim and center of saucers, second example.
