The National Industrial Conservation Movement existed between 1914-1918. Publishing propaganda posters such as this was part of what they did to further motivate Americans laborers during the hardships of World War I. These types of posters would become incredibly popular during World War II.

In this poster a man is seen telling a friend, "No, I can't go out tonight - I want study up this shop idea." The moral-bird in the lower right corner of the panel tells the reader, "Taking a live interest in your work bring you success." In the next illustration the worker is being congratulated by his boss - "That new idea of your is working fine - you are promoted to foreman." The moral-bird tells the reader, "He never was a slacker for work."
