Description
Jorge Dumas: " Woman with Folded Arms" Signed A/P Limited Edition Framed Jorge Dumas (1928 -1985 ) original etching " Woman with Folded Arms" 1976 image of a South American woman, printed on ES art paper. COA dated August 1976 #W86-21 included ( protected under the back of the frame) Fine condition original work. Image size 4 x 5 inches. Framed size: 13 x15 inches. South American artist Jorge Dumas was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Studied Latin American Constructivism, under Joaquin Torres Garcia. In the early years, in the Cubist tradition, his abstract paintings did not deal with the human form in a representational manner. The shift to his now notable delineation of the human form was prompted by his travels to Bolivia and Peru, after having lived with gypsies and miners. The remnants of these influences allowed Dumas’s work to transform into his unique abstract style that he is known for today. His impressive paintings, lithographs, prints, etchings, and collographs have been exhibited in major international and American cities. His work is shown in the Study Collection, Print Department, Museum of Modern Art, New York City.
