Antique French Empire Gilt Bronze clock of the goddess Demeter.
This beautiful Antique French Empire gilt bronze mantel clock with goddess of the harvest and art made around 1815.
The clock is decorated with a gilded bronze statue of the goddess Demeter. She is beautifully modelled and very finely finished and gilded. Demeter is the goddess of the harvest who presided over grains and the fertility of the earth. The clock has been professionally cleaned.
White enameled dial with Roman numerals is in good condition and signed Collin Palais Royal (1815-1820).
Movement is in good running condition chiming at the 1/1 and 1/2 hours striking on a silvered bronze bell.
Movement with silk suspension. Key, bell and pendulum replacement included. The clock is missing the back door.
