Description
This album includes an ultra rare CDV of General John M. Palmer with an Army of the Cumberland backmark. Palmer was an Illinois lawyer, politician, and general. He was colonel of the 14th Illinois and rose to brigadier and major general, commanding a division under Pope and Rosecrans, and the 14th Army Corps in the Chattanooga and Atlanta campaigns. He was later governor of Illinois and a US senator from the state.

CDV ink signed John H Hale 13th Michigan Army of Cumberland back mark. Private, Sergt., 2Lt., 1Lt., and Captain. Wounded at Chickamauga.
CDV yellowed ink signed Lt. Norton F. Towne 13th Mich. Army of Cumberland back mark. Corpl., 2LT., 1LT, Captain. Wounded at Chickamauga.
CDV portrait Col. Michael Shoemaker, Jackson, Mich. Back mark. Colonel 13th Mich, captured 9/7/62 at Tyree Springs,TN., and exchanged shortly after: led a bayonet charge at Stones River, a VERY RARE SUBJECT.
CDV full seated portrait of Major or Lt. Colonel. Blank back.
CDV bust portrait Lieutenant. Blank back.
CDV full standing line officer wearing slouch hat with bugle insignia. Army of Cumberland back mark.
CDV lovely lady signed on back Annie Geros Allegan, Michigan.
The 13th Michigan served in the Army and Department of Ohio and Cumberland, seeing action at Stones River, where Shoemaker led them in a bayonet charge, at Chickamauga, where they lost 107 out of 217 engaged, and in other hard-fought battles including the March to the Sea and the Campaign of the Carolinas, losing 4 officers and 68 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded and scores of others wounded, who bore the scars for the rest of their lives. .........................................................
